The Original Ground Protection Mat

These rugged mats are 1/2" thick HDPE, making them virtually indestructible. They withstand vehicles weighing up to 120 tons, bend but do not break, and feature a Limited Lifetime Warranty. The mats come drilled in each corner with the option of having two handholds on each side of the mat for easier handling.

VersaMATS are suited for areas with higher pedestrian traffic. They have a less aggressive low profile (oblong) tread pattern, more suited to pedestrians, wheelbarrows, and carts.

Best for: Pedestrians, smaller wheels. Can still be used with heavy equipment.

Why have one smooth side?

There are a few reasons why smooth sides can be recommended for your application. This includes:

• When covering hard surfaces that are non-forgiving such as concrete, asphalt, and pavers.
• Using treaded mats on warm or hot asphalt will leave tread imprints in the asphalt hence using smooth-sided mats on asphalt.
• When making turns with wheeled or track equipment it is more desirable to use a mat with one smooth side facing up.
• When piling soils or aggregate on top of mats it is very advantageous to use smooth-sided mats which make removal much easier.

• 4x8' - The industry standard and most common size. Covers everything from large construction equipment to pedestrians.
• 3x8' - Used when price, weight, and space are a consideration. More restrictive with regards to maneuvering.
• Smaller sizes - Typically smaller projects and residential use, or when transport or handling flexibility is needed.

Choosing your color

Both black and white mats have the identical characteristics, aside from the color difference.

• Black - The most cost-effective mat and most widely used, suitable for most applications.
• White - Generally used to prevent grass from "browning" over longer use. It reduces ground temperature and allows a small amount of light through the mat. Perfect for work on golf courses or gardens.

Mat-Pak: A simple, easy solution

The Mat-Pak system is a forklift-friendly solution to transport and store AlturnaMATS and VersaMATS safely.

It has been designed to fit into the bed of a pick-up and has forklift lifting points along each side so it is easy to store, load, and unload.

The mats are secured with ratchet straps to a metal frame, allowing the mats to be moved onto shelving and vehicles securely.

Each Mat-Pak kit comes complete with:
